So, I spent the weekend resting and relaxing, because I really want to take my new Zumba DVDs for a test drive. By yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, while I was still coughing, my energy had returned to about 85% and I was just generally feeling closer to normal. Yay! Monday would be the day! π
Oh, but the weekend was not over yet and my excitement for well-being was premature. π¦
Around 4:00pm, Zach comes inside from the backyard and says he wants a snack. I carry him to the pantry and we get a little snack bag. We walk back to the back door and as I reach to open the door for him, a sharp pain runs down my back.
Now, I understand the risk I was taking by exerting myself toΒ open the door (*rolleyes*), so I guess I deserved that, right?
The really bad news? For the rest of the night, I could actually not even stand up straight without agonizing pain in my lower back. π¦
Mike thinks I have a pinched nerve. I have never had one before (or any serious back problems for that matter), so this is totally new to me. I took an Aleve before going to bed, but it didn’t help all that much. But, it was better this morning, albeit not a lot. I could actually walk completely upright, although not without pain. Just bearable pain that didn’t force me to bend over, so it’s something.
Either way, there was certainly enough pain that I knew I was not going to be shaping my hips at all today. π¦
So, I took another Aleve after breakfast this morning and looked forward to a day of rest for my back while I sat on the couch and worked with my laptop. Sigh.
Unfortunately, as the day has gone on, the pain has gotten considerably worse again and I am back to not being able to stand up straight without a fair amount of pain. Probably not as bad as last night, but not as good as this morning, either.
Man, I have never had this much trouble exercising when I actually wanted to! Major, major, MAJOR under attack! π¦
Please pray for a speedy recovery so I can get on with it already! π
I have a very weak back and when I start a new exercise I have to be careful not to hurt myself but I am getting stronger. I know how you feel, wanting to execise so much and thing keeps happening to you !:-)
Yeah, I was wondering if the new exercise routine might not have contributed to it, even though it didn’t happen while I was exercising.
But, like you said, once I get through this and actually do start exercising, it will help me get stronger too!! π

Thanks and I totally agree – Zumba is the best thing I have ever done either – the only thing I truly ENJOY.
Thanks so much for the encouragement!
