Surprise, Surprise!

Overall, this week was not a good week. I did manage to get in two Zumba Kinect workouts (the first being 20 minutes and the second being 25 minutes), but that feels like the only good that happened.

I don’t know about you, but when I’m sick (which those two workouts didn’t help! 😛 ), it is so hard to stick with a healthy eating plan, let alone start a brand new exercise plan! My cravings go through the roof, especially for sweets and carbs. But, with Weight Watchers, we get 49 extra weekly points, and that’s what they’re there for, right?

Generally speaking, I don’t use all my weekly points. I have found, in the past, that it’s just too much food and my weight loss slows. Or maybe it’s because those extra points are usually unhealthy food choices. 😉

But, this week, I used ALL but 1 measly weekly point. 48 extra points. And almost all of that came on Friday. Mike took Zach to Costco so I could get some rest in peace. While there, he sent me a text that they had a special on Take n Bake pizzas – only $6 each! Sitting on the couch feeling lousy, that sounded like the perfect way to spend some weekly extra points.

Herein lies the problem – I didn’t attempt to find out how many points this was until after I had already eaten it. BAD IDEA!!!

Apparently, there isn’t much worse you could eat than a Costco 4-cheese take ‘n bake pizza! I ate about 1/3 of the pizza (one plate of slices) and it turns out that it was about 35 points!! O_O!!! Are you kidding me? That means the entire pizza is over 100 points! Ok, I have no clue what makes that particular pizza so off the hook, but it certainly wasn’t that good. No way it was worth that many points!! 😦

The second disappointment was the arrival of my Zumba Exhilarate DVDs on Thursday, after I had already done my Kinect workout, meaning I have yet to pop them in the DVD player and test drive them. 😦

So… when I woke up this morning, I just didn’t feel like I had a good week. I ate way too much (at least I didn’t go over my weekly allotted points), ingested all kinds of medication that makes me retain water (Nyquil, etc.) and wasn’t as active as I should have been. I really wasn’t looking forward to my weigh-in, but at least I was prepared for the inevitable increase on the scale and I knew why. For some reason, it’s way easier to take when I know why – the surprise gain when you think you’re doing great is a much larger sting!

Well, surprise, surprise!! I was actually DOWN 2 lbs! How in the world… ?! 😀

Thank you, Father! That could not have been me. I feel like I did my best to remain obedient in the area of food and fitness while sick, but I wasn’t completely successful, so I am surprised to pull off a 2-lb loss for the week. Happy, mind you, but surprised nonetheless!

Now, taking one more day today to rest and try and get rid of this crud, so hopefully I can do my Zumba DVDs tomorrow when Zach naps. Stay tuned for a review of them. Have a great week everyone! 🙂

Thank you and I totally agree. Generally speaking, I do try to make choices that are higher in fiber, but didn’t even give it a single thought this past weekend.

Now, the next time I’m sick and struggling with cravings, it will be something I remember, so thank you!

  1. Way to go on working out even if it’s just a few times!! 2 pounds is awesome. I am having trouble not using (or going over) my extra 49ish points per week on WW. This week is not going well and I’m feeling a wash of failure coming over me. I hope I can pull it together like ASAP. I’m happy for you Angie!!!

Thanks, Dani! And don’t be too hard on yourself; it takes time to get acclimated to any new weight loss plan and doing WW online doesn’t give us the benefit of sitting down with counselors 3x a week to tell us not to eat 2 bars a day, etc. LOL!! You’ll get there, because in the end, it’s way easier to follow than SG and you rocked that!! 🙂

I have the benefit, this time, of being fairly familiar with the system, even though it’s changed a bit with the new points system, but still. I lost 70 lbs doing it before I got pregnant, so it was much easier for me to slide back in.

You will do great, once you master it and learn the plan. 🙂
